Becoming Provident Providers

In a challenging world, it may be difficult to live within our means. But if we follow the counsel we are given, we will be blessed and happy.

Have you seen blessings in your life when you have made a decision to live within your means?

  1. Living within your means is an eternal principle and blessing. For us it has been about being in control, and trusted with what you have. How can you be entrusted with more when you can't manage what you have? The peace that comes from living within your means has taken time, but is a blessing I am thankful for every day.

  2. This is a wonderful video. This is something that I've been recently thinking about and wanting to become better at. Sometimes we buy things excessively because we think that it's going to make us happier, but the truth is that the security that comes from living within our means and the blessings that will come because of that will make us much happier. During the times that I'm better at living within my means, I love the feeling of peace that I have. I know that Heavenly Father gives us commandments like these, not to make us feel restricted, but because living them will give us so much more freedom and joy.

  3. As I have strived to live within my means and avoid unnecessary debt, I have enjoyed freedom from excessive stress and worry over finances. Although this commandment from God seems to only deal with the physical world, there are many spiritual implications and blessings which are made known by the Holy Ghost to those whose perspective is of an eternal nature.

  4. When my husband graduated from college we had the loans that go with it. We made it a point to pay them off as fast as possible. That meant we lived a more humble lifestyle. By doing so we were able to get out from under them in a short amount of time. Now that he has decided to go back and get his Master's it isn't a shock to the system to continue to live humbly. While we don't have all the bells and whistles we have a home that is warm and safe to come to everyday. We have all the necessary funds to provide for ourselves and we are still happy.

It is great knowing that we can squirrel away a little for rainy days because they will happen. We also don't need the lastest and greatest toys, we only need what we have and nothing more.

  5. I love the concept of being "rich on any income". You are always blessed from provident living and from learning to live on the income you have. When our first baby was born, we experienced many miracles that allowed us to live on a very small student income. We didn't have much, but we were rich.
