Mothers - You're amazing!!

To all mothers and mother figures, we just don't realize how big of an influence we have on those around us. It helps me to reflect on my own experience with my mother, I realize how much she has done for me and, as a grown woman myself, how much she still does for me. I also appreciate how my mother has that motherly influence on everyone she is around. She is always offering a warm hug or inspirational words to young, overwhelmed mothers. I can only hope that her influence has helped me to be that kind of mother. How has your mother or the mother figure in your life influenced you?

Mothers: A Piece of Heaven on Earth

I don't think I am alone in this world when I say that I love the comfort of being in my mother's presence. I feel safe, loved, acknowledged, beautiful and needed. I love celebrating mothers day. Sometimes our number one hero and fan gets taken for granted and Mother's Day is the perfect time to remind us just how much we need them in our lives. In today's post, I would like to broaden my scope of topic from my biological mom to some of the many mothers in my life and how they changed me for the better.

First, my biological mom. My favorite memories of her are not when she took us to Disney Land, Hawaii or anywhere else entertaining in the world. Mine are when I would call out to her in the dead of night and know she would come to my side without a complaint. As I got older, I would see how tired she was after a long day of taking care of my siblings and me. But selfishly, I would wake her in the dead of night when I felt sick and she would get up right away and tend to my every need. Her never-ending, selfless love and service will be my safe port in all my life's storms.

Second, my mom's missionary companion. I will refer to this amazing woman as Wilma. Wilma has three sons and would come and adore my sisters and me whenever she came over. When I got married, she flew from the other side of the States to help with my reception. I am most thankful for Wilma for her strong testimony in the gospel. Every time she visits, she always shares with us her sweet testimony. Because of this, she has helped me become stronger and more willing to share what I believe with those around me. Through her, I see Christ's love. I too want to become more like her and in so doing, become more Christ-like.

Last (but in no means less) my mother-in-law. My mom-in-law is a very hard worker. She fills her days serving those who are ill or in need of comfort. She also has high-expectations from her children and supports and loves them. Through her examples, she has raised an amazing man who not only cares deeply but is also willing to help me with whatever I need. I know that whatever she expects from her children, she is also very willing to do them herself. Currently she is serving a mission with my dad-in-law. They are great examples to those around them-especially to us, their children.

With these three stalwart women in my life, I can easily see what kind of mother I wish I can be to not only my future children but to anyone else around me who is in need of a mother's touch. A mother nurtures, sincerely cares, serves, protects, give advice, teaches, give support to others and etc. We can not only show gratitude to our mothers this month, but we can also become more like them. By following the righteous examples of women in our lives, we can grow closer unto God and become more Christ-like.

Thank you Mothers for bringing a piece of heaven on this Earth. We are literally eternally grateful for your countless hours of unconditional love and service.

It Was Mom

There have been countless times in my life when I have truly been thankful for my mom. As I have grown older I have started to see all that she has done for me, blessing my life with her love and kindness toward me. I was not an easy child and yet my mom stuck with me and taught me right from wrong. How many nights had she not slept as she held me in her arms as I cried? How many times had she bandaged my cuts, kissed me hello and walked me to school many times sacrificing her health and energy on my behalf. Through my mother I realized that the way she loves me comes close to the miraculous way God loves us. My close friend, my teacher, my mother, I thank you for all you have done for me.

As we bid farewell to Mother's Day let us try a little harder each day, each week to remind our mothers, out wonderful, beloved mothers how much we love them, appreciate them and are thankful for them.

"May each of us treasure this truth; one cannot forget mother and remember God. One cannot remember mother and forget God. Why? Because these two sacred persons, God and mother, partners in creation, in love, in sacrifice, in service, are as one."
-Thomas S. Monson

“The Name of Mother”“The noblest thoughts my soul can claim.
The holiest words my tongue can frame,
Unworthy are to frame the name
More sacred than all other.
An infant when her love first came,
A man, I find it just the same:
Reverently I breathe her name—
The blessed name of mother.”

Grateful to Mom

Throughout my life I've had a lot of support and guidance.  The source of my guidance comes from many different places.  My Heavenly Father who I can speak to through prayer, my Savior Jesus Christ, my parents, wife and siblings, are all sources of support and strength.  Above all else I believe my Mother has been my greatest source of strength and support.  And I'd like to focus on the example my Mother is to me.

My ideas and opinions were shaped by my Mothers acts of kindness towards me.  As my Mother raised me, like all of us, I made mistakes.  As I made those mistakes my Mother was always there to encourage me.  Instead of putting me down, she forgive me, gave me support and believed in me.  I can't remember a time when my Mother lost her patience towards me or didn't forgive my mistakes.

When things might have seemed trivial to others, my Mom supported me.  She came to all my hundreds of baseball and basketball games, listened through hours of me making noise with my drums, and she always supported and encouraged me even if I thought of giving up or not giving everything I could.  I am very grateful for all the love and kindness my Mother has shown to me in my life.

Sometimes I take for granted all the opportunities my Mother and Father provided for me.  This Mothers Day we should all take some time to think about all of the sacrifices our Mothers made that created opportunities for us.

I want to be the type of parent both my Mother and Father are.  I'd like to encourage us all to strive to be a good parent to children and a good example of forgiveness and kindness to everyone.

A Mothers Influence on Her Family

With Mother's Day approaching, I have been thinking about the Influence my wife has on our family.  I am amazed at her capacity to do all she does, demonstrating by every action how much she loves the Lord.  I have watched how, through her love and commitment she has changed each of our lives for the better.  As a mother she is such a great example to our children, showing patience, guidance, and a love for her family that binds us together.  I have witnessed numerous times the ability of my wife to listen to the promptings of the Spirit, and tenderly apply those impressions, blessing the lives of our children.  Our Heavenly Father has given mothers such a unique ability to touch the lives of their families.  God has granted gifts to mothers that no man will ever be able to replicate.  Tenderness, compassion, patience beyond any I have and the ability to calm each of our troubled souls in times of need.  I know that my wife as a mother is more valuable than all the treasures of the earth, and I thank God everyday for her influence and companionship in my life.
