Atonement, what does it mean for us?

The word atone means to reconcile, or to restore to harmony. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be restored to harmony with our Father in Heaven. Jesus’ atoning sacrifice took place in the Garden of Gethsemane and later when He was crucified. In Gethsemane He took upon himself the sins of all of us. He suffered greatly, so much that He trembled in pain (Luke 22:44). The Atonement is the greatest expression of our Heavenly Father’s love for us. It is also the greatest expression of our Savior, Jesus Christ’s love for His father and us. Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for all of our sins and also the feelings that come with the trials we face in this life. I can lay my burdens at His feet, humbly, knowing that He suffered for me. How great was His sacrifice for all of us.
It is only as we learn of, speak about, obey, and have faith in Jesus Christ that we can become like Him and be forgiven of our sins. What do you love most about Jesus Christ?

  1. I love feeling Jesus Christ's love for me during the happy moments in life as well as the hard and sorrowful moments. He is a friend who is willing to stand by me no matter what I had done as long as I am willing to have Him beside me again. I am grateful for His unconditional love and His continual forgiveness.

  2. I love that my Savior is always willing to be by my side, helping me though any trial. He will never forsake me, and for that I am so grateful. I know He lives. I know that he suffered so I might not have to if I but repent. He is my friend, and I can't imagine life without my Savior helping me through it.

  3. What I love about my Savior is that He will never forsake me. I know I can trust Him in all things. He was totally obedient even doing very hard things that I can't even comprehend. He said come follow me and be perfected in Him. I know I can be perfect over time if I am obedient to the commandments and His Teachings. All this can happen because of His willingness to Atone for us all. This is true love. I owe Him my complete respect and my life because He gave His for me.

  4. I love his example of charity. He devoted all of his time to giving service to others. He gave us all the greatest example of charity in that he gave his own life, so that we may live.
