Blessings in Disguise

I love the Christmas season. How perfect is it to have the most peaceful, uplifting and glorious holiday to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ during the darkest time of the year. Many times the only light I see is my Lord Jesus Christ during stormy and rough trials of my life. He is my lighthouse, my guide, and my teacher.

Christ is our creator of the earth and, throughout His mortal ministry, taught through parables. Putting this together and testing it out, I have come to realize that Christ, in so many ways, teaches us through His creations. It is a part of life to go through hardships and trying times, and our Savior understands every bit of what we go through. I have no doubt in my mind that He knew we’d face difficult times and to help us get through these, He placed spiritually uplifting things in our lives-people, sunrises, and warm blankets straight from the dryers. Through His tender mercies, throughout His mortal life and throughout mine, I find hope, peace and joy. I am eternally grateful for His love and mercy.

  1. My feelings about Christmas continue to change over the years. Now that our children are grown and grandchildren far away, the excitement of Christmas morning is not the same. I really enjoy Christmas eve when we have a chance to be together with friends and family to tell stories, sing, and remember Jesus Christ.

  2. It is part of our life here on Earth to be tested and tried, and although it doesn't feel like anything good will come from our trials, inevitably something always does. I have gone through the cycle of feeling like everything is fine, getting over confident, and being shot down by some new trial many different times, and I can attest that in the end it is always for the better. Trials help us build character and the strength to keep moving on. We must always remember that the lord will never give us a trial that we cannot overcome. He does not set us up for failure, but only pushes us past the limits in which we thought we could never go. The lord has a plan for each and everyone of us, and I know with a surety that he hears and listens to each and every one of our prayers. I am so thankful for the light that he is in my life and I am constantly striving to bring the spirit closer. Especially at this Christmas time, think of him and know that he is near.
